On your mark

Well, we had a first in the family yesterday. Emmah has been attending GEMS, through our church and last night they held their Pinewood Derby Race. She has been working on her car for a couple of weeks at GEMS, adding the paint, the wheels, and the weight. Last night we were all geared up to go, she had it weighed, and then got it registered. Number 2...not bad, we'll just see how it races. She had not brought it home to do any extra work on it so this was her solo project and she was very proud of her Rainbow Racer.

Excited to see her car go swishing down the track she watched with great anticipation, and it was worth it all. Her car wasn't the fastest, in fact it was the 2nd slowest and she could have won a trophy for that except a good friend's son took that with his car.

Overall, I think it was a great experience for her. A friend from school won a trophy, and she got a ribbon. She was disappointed, but hopefully will learn from it and make next years even better.
